Overview
In its 14th year, Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center’s 4K Trail Run continues to be the most unique race in Boston, as runners traverse the 204 acres of rolling hills, forests, meadows, salt marshes and beaches along the trails of Thompson Island.
On September 18th runners will start their day with a ferry ride through Boston Harbor to Thompson Island and end with a cookout celebration! Your registration fee includes roundtrip ferry transportation to and from Thompson Island, race t-shirt, dinner and drinks from Harpoon Brewery!
September 18, 2014 Schedule:
4:00 PM - Ferry Departs Long Wharf on Boston Harbor Cruises
5:00 PM - Race Begins, led by Boston Marathon legend Bill Rodgers with a shotgun start
5:30 PM - Post-Race Celebration
6:00 PM - Awards Ceremony
7:30 PM - Ferry departs Thompson Island
8:00 PM - Ferry arrives in Boston, Long Wharf

Each year the trail run helps bring 6,700 young people from greater Boston to Thompson Island where they engage in proven outdoor challenge activities and hands-on academic learning that create opportunities for success in school, future careers, and in the community.
Thompson Island is a non-profit organization that has been providing education resources to Boston's urban youth for almost 200 years. Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center servers over 6,700 young people each year guided by our mission to change lives through challenge and discovery.
